About
Angélica Gutiérrez-Magness is a research scientist/hydrologist with NOAA/NWS and a research associate at the CEE University of Maryland – College Park. She is a watershed hydrologist with 18 years of experience in the fields of hydrological and water quality modeling, and has extensive expertise in the development of mathematical models to address water quality impairments: including the HSPF model within BASINS and in the LINUX environment, HeatSource, and HEC-RAS. Dr. Gutiérrez-Magness latest research focuses in the use of remote sensing data to parameterize and calibrate water quality models in ungaged watersheds. This research is now being extended to the forecast environment through her projects with the NWS/OHD. She is currently the leader for projects related to river temperature forecast within the NWS/OHD. Some of her synergistic activities includes assistance in the coordination of activities for the Latin America and Caribbean GEO group, and research with students from the NASA-DEVELOP program.
