About
I am a Full Professor at the Department of Psychology, University of Maryland, College Park. I received a Ph.D. in computational neuroscience from Boston University (1996) and post-doctoral training at the National Institute of Mental Health (1999-2003). My research focuses on understanding cognitive-emotional interactions by employing behavioral and neuroimaging methods, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and, more recently, EEG and MEG. My current research addresses how top-down factors such as attention and executive control are involved in the processing of emotion-laden stimuli. I am also interested in developing quantitative methods to link trial-by-trial fluctuations in physiological responses (e.g., fMRI) and changes in behavior (e.g., successful vs. unsuccessful task performance). I have published more than 70 journal articles, chapters and full articles in peer-reviewed conferences.
